Update on Ronal Soto:
When we were in Belize in February, we were delighted to follow-up with Ronal. Some of you may know that this was the young boy we brought here to have his kidney reconstructed. His surgery was in June of 2006.
Before his surgery, he had been having pain in his kidney and frequent infections. He and his mother spent 3 weeks here with our family for his recuperation. When we saw him in February, about 7 months later, he was fully recovered. He continued to be active; playing soccer, running around and he had no complications. He and his mother were excited to see us and Dr. Theodoran, the surgeon who performed the surgery. We know that God changed his life and the lives of his family. The picture is of Ronal with some of his friends. Ronal is the one in the middle.
Future teams:
We are looking at taking further teams to Belize. We are in communication with three other physicians; a pulmonologist, a gynecologist, a gastroenterologist and a plastic surgeon that have all expressed interest in going to Belize. We would like to take 3 – 4 medical teams per year. We also have a nurse anesthetist commit to going who provided the anesthesia for Ronal’s surgery. It really moved him about Ronal’s strength and trust. His wife is also a nurse, and they want to go with us next winter, 2008.
We are also looking into taking a team to have a summer Bible school this summer at the local church, if all the details come together. We are also praying for opportunities to do construction and teach trades or assist Belizeans to start their own businesses.
We ask your prayers as we move forward in the work of the ministry.
