Healthy Church Healthy Belize

From the HCHB President

Greetings,

I hope that as you read this letter you would have had a wonderful Thanksgiving and are looking forward to spending more time with your family and friends this Christmas. I know that this has been a long over-due letter and we have had a lot of changes this year. We had a number of trips that were planned, but they did not happen.

Update on Belize; they had a number of floods and flash floods in which people lost their lives. The one I think of them is a man who lost his wife and 2 children from the town I grew up in. I knew this man personally. My prayers go out to them and all the others that have had a tough time this year.

I’m a little disappointed that we didn’t make any trips this year, but I know God has everything in his hands. We have been busy collecting medical and personal effects to help with the floods. I think that there was a report about not letting some of these communities back in their homes because of all the water and how slow it has been receding. As you continue to celebrate the holidays, please keep in mind those families that were affected by the flooding.

As a ministry, we would still like to take at least 3 teams this coming year. We would like to see a ministry team minister to the church in Stann Creek, maybe a summer bible school, so if you know someone, or a family, let me know. Along with that, we would like to take a team to give out some of the clothing we have been collecting.

As we approach the Christmas season, I have to look back on the year and just marvel at how God took care of Cheryl and the team without my be being there. As you look at the close of the year, think of all those things you did that made you happy and then reflect on those people who don’t have those things. This may not be because they are lazy or less spiritual, but because of other situations they face, they are left trusting in the Lord. So as you celebrate this season, remember to be thankful for what you have and where you live.

We continue to plan for the New Year in spite of the setbacks we had. Thanks for all your support and we hope you have a wonderful Christmas and a happy New Year.

Love and Prayers,

Hubert
