Healthy Church Healthy Belize

From the HCHB President

Greetings,

The last couple of years have been difficult for HCHB. At every turn, we were faced with obstacles. We have had a number of teams planned only to be disappointed by the cost of the plane tickets. Apparently the economy has even had a negative effect on non-profit organizations, such as ours. The airlines aren’t willing to help or give discounts as they did five years ago. This, coupled with our destination, (Belize seems to be serviced by only a few airlines) causes deals to be rare or non-existent.

I say all this so you all know that it’s not for the lack of trying on our part. We had received a few pieces of medical equipment that skipped delivery to Belize in October of ’09. In May of 2010, we were able to take a trip to Belize for personal reasons and were able to give over the equipment to Southern Regional Hospital in person.

We met the new administrator and the chief of staff. I was impressed with how the hospital looked. It was clean and had many new changes. It encouraged me to put together a team and start working. In our board meeting, in June, we were able to discuss some of their needs. Their two main needs are to get a storage building and build an expansion of their lab facility. This is the way we desire to assist them in the near future. If you have any interest in helping with either of these two projects, please feel free to contact us.

Thank you for your prayers and support,
Hubert Stephen
