Medical Teams can include persons involved in the medical profession that feel a sense of call to minister to people who do not have their medical needs met, or have no ability to receive the care they need.
Belize's health care system is mostly government operated and there is very little ability to meet the sometimes specialized needs of the people of Belize. Most Belizeans are unable to afford basic privatized healthcare services. There is some privatized healthcare, but most Belizeans are unable to afford their basic services. The people of Belize are uneducated in healthcare issues and need someone to intervene on their behalf. Medical teams will spend between
7-14 days in the country to work in both hospitals and out district clinics. Medical doctors, surgeons, nurses, aides, orderlies, medical secretaries and ancillary staff (ex: lab technicians, radiology staff, etc.) are all needed.
There are basic services available, but specialties are rare and very welcomed.
